Can you make a rocket?

Equipment Needed

  • Paper
  • Thin cardboard
  • Tape
  • Film canisters
  • Scissors
  • Water
  • Paper towels to mop up with
  • Alka Seltzer

Instructions

  1. Wrap and tape a tube of paper around the film canister.
  2. Invert the canister so that the lid lies flat on the table.
  3. Cut fins from the thin cardboard and tape them to the rocket.
  4. Make a nose by cutting a circle out of paper.
  5. Cut out a pie shape from the circle and twist the paper into a cone.
  6. Tape the cone together then tape it on the open end of the paper tube.
  7. Take the rocket outside and find a suitable spot to launch.
  8. Turn the rocket upside down and fill the canister 1/4 full with water.
  9. Drop-in a 1/2 tablet of Alka Seltzer and snap the lid on tight.
  10. Quickly stand the rocket upright (lid on the table) and stand back!
